Black Jack is one of the more well-known games participated in, in casinos. Blackjack is also referred to as 21 or Chemin de Fer. The game is a combination of chance and ability coupled with decision-making. The game has changed over a period of time. Players have specialized in specific skills like "card card counting," with which they turn the edge in the game in the players favor. The card game has been in existence since the 18th century. References can be seen in historical documents to a card game referred to as "vingt-et-un," which in French means 21, and is deemed as the precursor to black jack.

The game was originally not so popular in the united states of america. This led to the betting houses trying a variety of things like offering a bonus like a 10-to-1 pay out, if the black jack player was dealt a "black" jack and an ace of spades. The jack could be either clubs or spades. After the game got well-known, the reward pay out soon vanished from the rules.

Any hand which reaches a sum of twenty one is deemed a winner. The value can not be in excess of twenty-one, in which case the hand is said to be "bust." The aim of any player is to defeat the house. If both the black jack player and the house have the same hand value, it is called "push," with neither the black jack player nor the casino coming away with a win on the hand.
